When the Indian indentured workers left in ships to British colonies across the world, they took along their meagre possessions that included Bhagwad Gita, Hanuman Chalisa, dholak, cymbals and lots of memories of their motherland.
These memories are still alive in the oral folk traditions across the British colonies and in the hearts and minds of people in the Bhojpuri region of North India.
