West Indies vs England LIVE SCORECARD: Follow the latest from day three of the third Test in St Lucia

Sportsmail Reporter

Rory Burns fell to the first ball of the day as England’s hopes of building a big lead in the third Test suffered an early blow.

England resumed on the third morning 142 ahead on 19 without loss, Mark Wood having taken the headlines with a brilliant spell of fast bowling.

Burns and Keaton Jennings were hoping to post a big opening stand but the Surrey captain flicked an innocuous loosener from Keemo Paul straight to square leg for a disappointing exit.

Paul’s day went from early elation to despair when he set off after a Joe Denly cover drive and pulled up injured.

He hobbled over the boundary rope and soon took to the turf, later receiving treatment and being stretchered from the pitch.

Denly had a major let-off on 12, beaten all ends up by Shannon Gabriel and fending to third slip off the shoulder of the bat. Shimron Hetmyer had a simple job but somehow grassed the chance.
