England kick off their one-day series against the West Indies on Wednesday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Eoin Morgan’s stewardship of England’s white-ball sides has been peerless in recent years and he will hope to start with a victory in the first game of the five-match series.

Joe Root’s Test team fell to defeat in the red-ball contest, winning the final match in St Lucia having lost the opening two, but England will be keen to make this Caribbean tour a success when it comes to their limited-overs teams.

Jos Buttler returned to the England side for the clash in Bridgetown. Buttler was given extra time off following the Test series and missed the 171-run warm-up victory on Sunday, but slotted back in ahead of Alex Hales.

The rest of the team remained the same, with Mark Wood edging David Willey and Tom Curran to the final seam bowling slot.

The hosts were without injured paceman Kemar Roach, man of the series in the Test leg, and handed debuts to opener John Campbell and Nicholas Pooran.

Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo was picked ahead of seamer Sheldon Cottrell.

The West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first at the Kensington Oval.
