Vincent Kompany and Kyle Walker looked confident in training as they prepared to face Bournemouth on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola‘s side sit one point behind league leaders Liverpool but have a chance to apply pressure before the Reds face Everton on Sunday.

The Cherries have not won a match since beating Chelsea 4-0 at the end of January but talisman Callum Wilson, who returned to training this week, could give them a boost.

City have injury problems of their own to contend with but Guardiola has received some good news this week.

‘Gabriel is back,’ Guardiola confirmed on City’s official website. ‘John [Stones] is coming back too, like Gabriel.’

Fernandinho and Aymeric Laporte both suffered muscular injuries and Guardiola expects the duo will be close to be being ready after the international break.

Guardiola added: ‘I think after international break they will be fit, especially Fernandinho. Maybe a few days later Aymeric.’

The City manager also gave an update on versatile midfielder Fabian Delph ahead of the weekend’s match.

Guardiola said: ‘He [Delph] was injured, and he made his first training session today,’ he said. ‘He’s not in the squad but he can play.’

The champions have won their last seven games in all competitions and will be hoping to make it eight against Eddie Howe’s side.
