[Tuko hapo tu, tunafika]

10,000 kilometers and two years later, we got to the top of the hill. By now, we had gone through the million and one reasons why we decided to start this hike. “It will be a short walk”, she said. “Plus think about all the pictures you can take”. None of these reasons considered the angry Mauritian sun that threatened to melt away our perfectly shining faces (courtesy of Arimis). Or the slightly misplaced gym membership card that we had conviniently lost for the last one, two – no, sorry 9 months. Or maybe just maybe, how our billowing summer dresses were never in fashion for being the lastest hiking gear. No. We wanted “adventure” and sometime before the year ended, we got to our adventure. When we got to the top of the city where every intimidating tower fell below us, we felt like we were on top of the world. And that maybe, no matter how many times it felt like we were on the Great wall of China and life wasn’t getting any easier, somehow, someday, we’d still make it to the top. But until then, we keep reminding ourselves, “tuko hapo tu, tunafika”. đź“·: @wamai.tha
