Tottenham stars believe Harry Kane is prepared to consider his future after seeing another Premier League title shot slip at Chelsea left the striker ‘devastated and angry’

Tottenham players are becoming increasingly concerned that talisman Harry Kane is about to seriously consider his position at the club.

Kane was reported to have been left ‘devastated and angry’ following Spurs’ recent capitulation against Chelsea, which ultimately killed off any lingering hopes of winning the title this season.

Should Spurs be unable to break their trophy-less spell by the end of next season, senior players fear Kane will move onto pastures new, report the Telegraph.

The 2-0 defeat to Chelsea came following Spurs’ shock defeat against Sean Dyche’s struggling Burnley.

It led to many fingers being pointed in the direction of the north London club, with critics accusing them of again bottling another tilt at the title.

Kane himself was caught up in the boiling of tempers at Stamford Bridge, and had an angry clash with Cesar Azpilicueta – but later escaped further action for what appeared to be a headbutt motion.

Pochettino defended the actions of the England captain, and insisted it showed both his desire and passion.

‘He was very professional in the action,’ the Spurs boss said.  ‘I wasn’t worried because I knew what was going to happen. He is a player that cares about the club, the team and the result.

‘The reaction is fantastic from my point of view because it is a player that cares. I would be more worried if he didn’t show that character or shows the message that he cares. That is the most important thing in my point of view.’

There is also another increasing worry within the Spurs camp that manager Mauricio Pochettino may succumb to the lure of Real Madrid, who are likely to be on the lookout for a new manager in the summer.

In revealing comments this week, the Argentine has suggested Spurs may need to find another ‘magic guy’ to win the title using their current budget.

‘I hear people say, ‘Pochettino is there for five years and didn’t win,’ he said. ‘If now the obligation is that it is compulsory to win a title because we are doing so well, it is a thing that to compete you need to compare with other teams.

‘Maybe if Daniel Levy said to me next season ‘We need to win a title, we need to win the Champions League and we need to win the Premier League’ then maybe you need to find another magic guy who can do this.’
