Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho confirms Gareth Bale will MISS Sunday’s clash against rumoured-suitors Manchester United and will NOT go away with Wales… and asks England to go easy on overworked captain Harry Kane

Gareth Bale has been ruled out of Tottenham‘s match against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed.

Bale, who is yet to play for Spurs following his return to the club on loan from Real Madrid due to a knee injury, watched from the stands as Tottenham beat Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Tuesday.

But Mourinho said on Wednesday that Bale should be fit in just over two weeks’ time after the international break and added that he will not go away with Wales next week.

‘Bale cannot play tomorrow or at the weekend,’ Mourinho said. ‘[He is] working very hard and very professionally.

‘I believe the two weeks of international will be important for his fitness and recovery to be back for the weekend after. We’ll see.’

Mourinho also warned about the risks with England manager Gareth Southgate calling-up and playing Harry Kane, given his exertions already at the beginning of this season.

The Portuguese said he would not ask Southgate not to select the England captain, but insisted that everyone ‘respects’ his players.
