Team GB’s Galal Yafai reached the Olympic men’s flyweight final with a split decision victory over Kazak fighter Saken Bibossinov on Thursday.
The Brummie fighter, 28, stormed out the blocks and won the first round decisively, with his opponent given a standing count in the opening minutes.
Yet Bibossinov rallied back in the second and third round as both men fought valiantly with a place in the gold medal fight on the line and when it came down to the scorecards, Yafai came out on top to reach the showpiece fight on Saturday.
