Angel Di Maria has revealed the difficulties he faced during his time at Manchester United ahead of Paris Saint-Germain‘s Champions League encounter with the Red Devils.

But things didn’t go to plan at Old Trafford, and after one season in England the winger was sold to PSG.

Di Maria was subject to a terrifying raid on his Cheshire home in February 2015, a factor which contributed to his inability to settle in Manchester.

Burglars were believed to have used scaffolding poles to smash their way into the mansion while he watched TV with his wife and infant daughter.

French champions PSG are unable to select an injured Neymar in Tuesday night’s clash with Man United and Di Maria is in line to face his former team.

Ahead of the last-16 first leg tie the 30-year-old spoke to radio station France Bleu about his spell in Manchester.

He said: ‘I only stayed one year. It wasn’t the best period of my career, or they didn’t let me have my best time there.

He has scored 59 goals in 163 appearances since his move to the French capital in August 2015

‘There were problems with the coach at the time. But thanks to God, I was able to come to PSG and be myself again.’

United go into the game in brilliant form with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having guided his team to ten wins in their last 11 in all competitions.

PSG meanwhile have won their last two after losing 2-1 to Lyon in Ligue 1, but boast a squad containing excellent players.
