AmaWaterways celebrates AmaMora christening
Luxury river cruise line AmaWaterways has celebrated the christening of its new 156-passenger vessel, AmaMora. The garland-trimmed ship arrived in Lahnstein where guests, media and travel partners were joined by local dignitaries and residents for a special ‘Rhine Romanticism’-themed dockside ceremony. Each guest was presented with a hand-made wine leaf and flower pin to wear as the festivities began.
AmaMora will sail the enchanting Rhine river, while recent launches of AmaMagna and AmaDouro expand the company’s presence on the Danube and in Portugal, respectively.
“A record-breaking year”
“This has truly been a record-breaking year for us, and we are very proud to welcome AmaMora to our wonderful fleet of ships that are built to meet the needs of today’s travellers who crave a luxurious and personalised holiday experience,” said co-founder Rudi Schreiner.
“With multiple dining venues, a well-equipped gym with a Wellness Host and heated swimming pool with swim-up bar, AmaMora’s design reflects her most recent sister ships, AmaLea and AmaKristina, but her fresh, rich colour scheme is uniquely her own.”
The ancient temple city of Bagan
With the news announced that UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee has named the ancient temple city of Bagan in Myanmar as one of 29 new cultural and natural sites inscribed into its World Heritage List, there has never been a better time to visit the ancient temple city.
The Strand Cruise offers an intimate 25-cabin luxury river cruise ship that sails the Ayeyarwady River on three- and four-night itineraries that begin in or end in Bagan. Itineraries are fully a la carte, with passengers allocated a guide and driver so that they can follow a recommended shore excursion itinerary including the highlights of each port, or follow their own path to discover sites they may have read about.
The ‘Airbnb’ of the Seas
Boat hire website Click&Boat has shared five last-minute ‘staycation’ deals for British and Irish holidaymakers looking to stay close to home this summer.
Known as the ‘Airbnb of the seas’, Click&Boat has over 30,000 boats available to rent with or without a captain in over 50 countries worldwide, including the UK and Ireland. Deals this July and August in Ireland include a houseboat stay for up to five people on the River Shannon for from GBP 466 per day and a sailboat stay for up to six people from Kinsale in Southern Ireland from GBP 2,621 per week.
Click&Boat is a boat rental site created in 2013 by two young French entrepreneurs: Edouard Gorioux and Jérémy Bismuth. The start-up was born from the observation that there are millions of boats just sitting in the harbour for most of the year, and that is expensive for boat owners.
Vasco da Gama’s British Isles Discovery
The latest ship to join the Cruise and Maritime Voyages (CMV) fleet, Vasco da Gama, has a brand-new British Isles Discovery itinerary.
Mike Hall, head of marketing at CMV said: “This is an ideal opportunity for our UK guests to cruise on our new ship, Vasco da Gama. The British Isles Discovery is one of our most popular itineraries, so this addition to our cruise programme will help to meet demand.”
Sailing from London Tilbury on Monday 2 September 2019 on an 11-night British Isles Discovery itinerary, passengers can experience some of the more interesting and remoter parts of the British Isles together with a little French flair. Vasco da Gama will call at Kirkwall (Orkney Isles), Portree (Isle of Skye), Tobermory (Isle of Mull), Belfast (Northern Ireland), Dublin (Ireland), Cobh for option to visit Cork (Ireland), St Mary’s (Isles of Scilly), St Peter Port (Guernsey), Honfleur (France) and returning to London Tilbury.
