Thailand will resume its “Test & Go” programme for fully-vaccinated international travellers starting February 1.

Thailand’s Covid-19 task force has suspended the scheme due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. It halted the applications and set the January 15 deadline but confirmed that previously-approved travellers under the programme will be able to enter Thailand.

Under the Test & Go programme, travellers are required to be tested upon arrival and five days later. Also, their whereabouts are tracked for contact tracing.

The decision was aimed at reviving Thailand’s travel industry, which slightly recovered thanks to initiatives like the Sandbox and Test & Go programmes.

While the bars and nightclubs remain closed, restaurants are now allowed to serve alcohol until 11 pm.

Meanwhile, CCSA has added other popular Thailand destinations like Pattaya and Koh Chang under the Sandbox scheme where fully vaccinated tourists must agree to stay in one location for a week before they can travel to other parts of the kingdom. It was previously launched for tourist hotspots like Phuket and Koh Samui.
