Due to ongoing demand for the destination, ultra-luxury cruise operator, Scenic has unveiled an expanded Japan programme for 2023 on board the ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse.

New sailings have been added to the programme, including three brand new itineraries, visiting more than six new ports of call including Hachinohe, Shimizu, Muroran, Sakaiminato (all Japan) and various spectacular ports across The Aleutian Islands (United States of America).

A new Scenic Enrich excursion – part of the luxury cruise lines signature immersive shore excursion programme – allows guests to experience Japanese culture at a Shinto ceremony. The ancient tradition features prayers and dancing to encourage the purification of spirits and a sake Kagami-biraki ceremony at a local shrine is said to bring good luck to all who attend.

Small ship cruising onboard Scenic Eclipse allows guests to explore beyond the horizon thanks to the on-board submarine and two helicopters. With just 228 guests onboard, an almost 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio and private butler service, Scenic Eclipse ensures an extraordinary level of personalised service for each guest.

The 15-member onboard Discovery Team featuring scientists, historians, ornithologists and archaeologists educates guests on Japan’s fascinating history, fauna, wildlife and traditions. Guests can enjoy sushi in the onboard restaurant Sushi @ Kokos and sample north Asian fusion food at Night Market whilst tasting local Sake from the onboard Sake bar.
