Reunion Island and Seychelles win three gold medals each in swimming finals

GIS – 20 July, 2019: The finals of swimming 50m women and men backstroke, 200m women and men freestyle and 100m women and men butterfly were held today at Cote d’ Or multisports complex with the same flamboyant spirit as the opening of the Games. The day was filled with exciting victories and near misses for others and together the athletes put on a spectacular display of courage skill and brilliance during the competition. 

In the 50m backstroke for women, Seychelles clinched the first position followed by Reunion Island earning both the second and third positions.  Whereas, for the 50m backstroke for men, Reunion Island earned the first place and the Mauritius won the other two positions.

 

With regard to the 200m freestyle for women, Reunion Island bagged both the first and second positions. The third position went to Seychelles. And for the 200m freestyle for men, Reunion Island won the gold medal and bronze medal whilst Mauritius won the silver medal. 

 

In the 100m butterfly for women, Seychelles sealed the first place followed by Mauritius on the second position and Reunion on the third position. For 100m butterfly for men, Seychelles stood at the first position followed by Reunion Island and Mauritius at the third place.
