Republic of Mauritius- Singapore to provide training to Mauritian policemen

GIS – 15 May, 2019: Singapore will assist the Mauritius Police Force in terms of capacity building, through a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries.

This statement was made today by the Non Resident High Commissioner of Singapore to Mauritius, Mr Rangareddy Jayachandran, following a courtesy call on the Minister Mentor, Minister of Defence and Minister for Rodrigues, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, at the Treasury Building in Port Louis. He added that the training of policemen was raised during the visit of Minister Mentor in April 2018 to Singapore.

 

Mr Jayachandran highlighted that discussions with the Minister Mentor were very productive and fruitful and focused on several issues including the Metro Express project and reinforcement of security. He recalled that several projects are being implemented in Mauritius under the Government to Government agreement between the two countries namely in the fields of security and infrastructure.

 

The Non Resident High Commissioner of Singapore to Mauritius further pointed out that several areas of cooperation which can be implemented in the future were discussed namely the ocean economy and the Chagos Archipelago issue.

 

Mr Rangareddy Jayachandran has been Singapore’s Non Resident High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius since 2008. He has over 35 years’ experience in capital raising, strategic planning, and business development.
