GIS– 19 March, 2019: The project for the construction of an Urban Terminal at Place Cardinal J. Margéot in Rose Hill is in the pipeline and falls within the context of the implementation of the Metro Express in Mauritius.  To this end, the Municipal Council of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill (MBBRH) has solicited proposals from promoters with required experience and expertise to design and implement the project.

The proposed site is centrally located in Rose Hill, forming the entry point to the town, on a strategic triangular intersection with three major roads enabling direct access to the site from the surrounding towns.

The MBBRH/Government of Mauritius will lease to the successful applicant a portion of around 7,847m2 of land on a 60-year lease at a rental value of Rs 1,225,000 yearly. Thereafter, the lease may be considered for renewal under such terms and conditions as may be decided by the Government/MBBRH.

The project will comprise an Urban Terminal which will have to be integrated in the Metro Terminal being implemented by the contractor of the Government. Dedicated areas will also be provided for a Bus Terminal and a Bus Platform, parking facilities, commercial spaces, Food court, Leisure and Entertainment facilities, and a Taxi stand.

Shopping will be a key attraction of the Terminal with the shopping activity catering for a wide range of clientele ranging from large shopping outlets to small shops/kiosks. The development also aims to attract tourists visiting Mauritius. A variety of shops and eateries (food court), café, retailing, leisure and entertainment facilities will also be catered for in order to encourage day and night time activities.
