Republic of Mauritius- Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security (Appeal) Regulations effective as from today

GIS – 19 March, 2019: The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Mr Ivan Collendavelloo, has made the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security (Appeal) Regulations, under the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Act.  The Act provides that any person who feels aggrieved with the decision of the Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority can make an appeal. 


The Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security (Appeal) Regulations, which are effective as from today, provide for any party to the appeal to be represented, at the hearing, by a Barrister or an Attorney or with leave of the Appeal Committee, to be assisted by a person having expertise in the subject matter of the appeal.

They also make provision for the Secretary of the Appeal Committee to give, 10 days before the hearing of the appeal, a notice in writing to the appellant, to the Authority or any other party of the date, time and place fixed for the hearing of the appeal, as well as for a non-refundable fee of Rs 5 000 to be paid by any person making an appeal.
