GIS – 03 March, 2020: The promotion of Mauritius as an important financial centre in the African continent was at the fore of discussions today during a courtesy call by the Chairman of the Standard Chartered Bank PLC, Mr. José Viñals, on the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister for Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In a statement, Mr. José Viñals underlined that he had a productive meeting with the Prime Minister while adding that discussions pertained to developing Mauritius as a leading sustainable financial centre.
Mauritius, he said, plays an important role as a financial hub in Asia, Middle East and Africa. To this end, he expressed his commitment to strengthen the collaboration with the Government of Mauritius as well as to create a synergy between the public and private sectors with a view of contributing further to the economic development of the country.
