Republic of Mauritius- Prime Minister visits female medical staff of A.G.Jeetoo Hospital on International Women’s Day

At the very outset, Mr Jugnauth visited the post natal care unit- a ward in the hospital where women and their babies are provided with medical care immediately after the birth of the baby- where he saluted the work done by female personnel and lauded their contribution to the development of the country in the health sector by counseling the new mothers.

Prime Minister Jugnauth continued his visit to the neonatal intensive care unit, also known as an intensive care nursery that specialises in the care of ill or premature newborn infants. He seized the opportunity to pay a visit to the recently born quadruplets who are still at the neonatal care unit of the hospital and their parents. He pointed out that there is an existing scheme that caters for a financial support to these types of parents. The scheme allocates for Rs 2500 per month for a period of two years for three babies but the government, Mr Jugnauth stated, is making an exception in the case of the quadruplets and extending the allocation to the fourth baby as well.

Mr Jugnauth highlighted that the government is giving an initial donation of Rs200 000 so as to support the parents financially. He appealed to companies and enterprises to provide a financial support to the parents as well.

Speaking of the government’s objective to help the future generation grow in best environment possible,he recalled the help and support that is being provided to the Siamese babies that are actually under treatment in India along with their parents by the Government.

On this International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister encouraged women to take the upper hand on their future and urged them to continue their progress so as to break the taboo that women are not made for occupying high management level posts.
