GIS – 14 August, 2019: The National Sales Exhibition 2019, which aims at providing a platform for women entrepreneurs who are trained at different women centres to showcase their talents and skills, was inaugurated, this morning, at the Municipal Council of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill.

The exhibition, which spans from 14 to 17 August 2019, also has as objective to promote income-generating and entrepreneurial activities among women.  It is organised by the Social Welfare Division of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare.

The Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Local Government and Outer Islands, and Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare, Mrs Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, and other personalities, were present at the event.

In her address, the Vice-Prime Minister pledged that Government will continue to introduce new measures and schemes that will accelerate the successful development of start-ups and strengthen existing businesses, which contribute to the socio-economic development of Mauritius. Government, she pointed out, is committed to providing a conducive environment for the sustainable development of this sector and to respond to the changing needs of SMEs in a proactive manner.

Vice-Prime Minister Jeewa-Daureeawoo commended the efforts of the women entrepreneurs who worked hard towards making this national exhibition a success. The exhibition, she emphasised, is an important platform to showcase the products of Small and Medium Enterprises. The Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare will provide such platforms more frequently so as to provide more visibility to products manufactured by women entrepreneurs, she  underscored.
