The Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, made this statement yesterday at the stone laying ceremony of a new administrative building of the District Council of Pamplemousses, at Calebasses, in presence of several personalities.
On this occasion, he announced the setting up of a state-of-the-art sports complex to the tune of some Rs 204 million to be constructed in Triolet in line with Government’s ambition of transforming the Mauritian society into a healthier nation by inculcating a sports culture. Prime Minister Jugnauth underlined that several socio-economic spheres across the island are being developed to ensure that all citizens avail of the various facilities and services.
He further pointed out that in a technologically driven era, it is requisite for Mauritius to adapt to the trends of modernisation and keep pace with the fast evolving world. Hence, Mr Jugnauth highlighted that the new District Council, which will be a one-stop shop for providing quality services to the public, fits in the approach to bring innovation in every stage of development. The new Council, he added, will also spur an air of newness in the region and emerge as an example to be replicated in other regions.
The Prime Minister urged the staff as well as the inhabitants to make optimum use of the infrastructure that will be made available to them through the new facilities to be provided at the District council.
New District Council of Pamplemousses
The new building to the tune of Rs 72 million will be constructed over an area of three arpents and will be compliant with environmental norms. It will also be equipped with solar photovoltaic system that will generate its own electricity.
