The Minister of Culture and Communication of the Republic of Senegal, Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, made this statement following a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister of Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, this morning at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis. The Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, was also present.
Minister Diop underlined that the meeting was cordial and fruitful and discussions focused on the different facets of the rich heritage of both countries.
He reiterated the support and solidarity of Senegal vis-à-vis the Mauritian population adding that both Governments look forward to working in closer collaboration in various fields including arts and culture.
Minister Diop is in Mauritius in the context of the 185th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery. He was the Chief guest for the official celebrations held on 01 February 2020.
