Republic of Mauritius- IOIG’s Organising Committee 2019 signs agreements with new sponsors to the tune of Rs 9 million

GIS – 25 April 2019: SICOM, Checkout, Eclosia, Rogers and MC Vision, have joined the list of official sponsors for the upcoming Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2019 with a total contribution amounting to Rs 9 million. A signing ceremony of agreements to that end was held, yesterday, at the seat of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Port-Louis.

 

Signatories were the 2019 IOIG Organising Committee and the five sponsors who are bringing in their contributions as follows: SICOM and Checkout as silver sponsors – Rs 3 million each, and, Eclosia, Rogers and MC Vision as bronze sponsors – Rs 1 million each.

 

In his statement, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Stephan Toussaint, who was present at the ceremony, expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their strong commitment in IOIG 2019 which demonstrates the patriotic fervour of the companies towards Mauritius.  The contribution of sponsors will indeed help the Organising Committee of IOIG 2019 to host the sporting event in the most favourable and best conditions possible, he pointed out.

 

In addition, the Minister reiterated his tenets for sports which, according to him, are transmitters of important values such as team spirit, respect, discipline, tolerance, perseverance, cooperation and solidarity.

 

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the 2019 IOIG’s Organising Committee, Mr Jean-Pierre Sauzier showed his appreciation to the sponsors for extending their collaboration with the Organising Committee in this sporting endeavour.

According to him, the partnership of all stakeholders will help in achieving the set financial objective of reaching Rs 100 million for the hosting of IOIG 2019 in July.  The private sector has an important role as contributory partners for the Games, he further added.

For their part, the five sponsors’ representatives stated that they are pleased to be associated with an indianoceanic event of such magnitude.  This event will promote the sense of solidarity and unity among the youth of the Indian Ocean region as well as encourage the adoption of a sports culture across Mauritius, they highlighted.

 

Furthermore, the sponsors indicated that the contributions of their respective organisations bear testimony of their strong sense of patriotism towards Mauritius.  They also expressed confidence that the hosting of IOIG in Mauritius will lead to strengthening ties, not only within the Mauritian society, but also among the peoples of the Indian Ocean region.
