Republic of Mauritius- Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium meets Prime Minister

GIS 28 May  2019: The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Peter Van Acker, paid, today, a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building, in Port-Louis.

In a statement after the meeting, Mr Peter Van Acker, said that the meeting with the Prime Minister was cordial and fruitful adding that discussions focused on the Chagos issue. He expressed the wish that both the United Kingdom and Mauritius find a solution based on the verdict of the International Court of Justice.

 

He also spoke on the challenges facing the tourism sector, and added that both Mauritius and Belgium should work together to find ways to attract more tourists to the island. It is to be noted that around 15 000 Belgian tourists visit Mauritius annually.

 

Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Peter Van Acker is presently on an economic mission to Mauritius along with six Belgian enterprises with a view to collaborate closely with Mauritian enterprises and further promote economic development.
