Everton host Liverpool in the 200th Merseyside league derby on Sunday afternoon as Marco Silva’s men bid to stop their rivals taking another step towards the title.

The Toffees are looking for their first victory in this fixture in eight-and-a-half years, while the visitors boast an incredible record at Goodison Park.

Here, Sportsmail takes a closer look at the key statistics ahead of this weekend’s crunch clash on Merseyside.

EVERTON’S ABYSMAL RUN

Eighteen games. That’s how many times Everton have faced Liverpool without that sweet taste of victory.

Their last Merseyside derby win came way back in October, 2010, when Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta scored at Goodison to give David Moyes’ men a 2-0 triumph.

Unsurprisingly, this current run is the longest Everton have ever gone without a derby win.

In that time, Liverpool have won nine of their 16 Premier League meetings and drawn the other seven.

The Reds also have two FA Cups wins against their neighbours, having defeated them in the third round last year and in the 2012 semi-finals.

Everton’s 16-game winless streak in the Premier League is their third-longest against an opponent too.

The Blues went 18 games without a win against Chelsea between December 1998 and December 2009 and 19 against Manchester United between September 1992 and August 2004.

LIVERPOOL LOVE GOODISON

The travelling Liverpool supporters can be confident of a victory on Sunday. After all, they have the best record of any side at Goodison Park.

The Reds have won an incredible 33 games across Stanley Park, two more than Arsenal and five more than Manchester United.

Sunday’s fixture will be the 100th league Merseyside derby at Goodison, meaning Liverpool can currently boast a record of one win every three visits.

Their last victory came back in 2016, when Sadio Mane’s 94th minute strike earned Jurgen Klopp’s men a dramatic 1-0 win.

However, five of the last six meetings at Goodison have been drawn.

THE RED CARD DERBY

The Merseyside derby is, by some distance, the dirtiest fixture in the history of the Premier League.

A total of 21 red cards have been shown during games between Everton and Liverpool, with Steven Gerrard and Phil Neville having picked up two apiece.

It is worth noting, however, that there has only been one sending off in the last 14 league meetings between the two.

That came during the 2015-16 season, when a frustrated Ramiro Funes Mori was shown a straight red for a horror tackle on Divock Origi at Anfield.

SET-PIECE SHOCKERS

Look away now, Marco.

While Everton have the joint-worst record when it comes to conceding from set-pieces this season, Liverpool have scored the most from free-kicks and corners.

Silva’s side have struggled to deal with aerial balls this term, with a third of the 39 goals they have let in coming from set-pieces. Watford have also conceded 13.

It is not just an Everton problem though – no manager has watched his team (or teams) let in more from set-pieces since the Portuguese was first appointed at Hull back in January 2017.

KLOPP’S UNBEATEN RECORD

Klopp has taken charge of seven Merseyside derbies since arriving at Liverpool in 2015 and, as you might have guessed by now, he is yet to lose.

The German has led his side to five wins and two draws, the last of which came at Goodison back in April, 2018.

Another impressive statistic in Klopp’s favour is Liverpool’s record against teams outside of the Big Six since January last year.

In that time, Liverpool are unbeaten in 31 matches, winning 26 and drawing on just five occasions.
