Mauritius battles its way to badminton finals

GIS – 25 July, 2019: The badminton semi-finals held at the National Badminton Centre in Rose-Hill, this morning, saw five of our compatriots reach the finals of the competition in different categories.

In the women double category, the Mauritian pair Aurelie Allet/Kobita Dookhee reached the finals after defeating the pair Allisen Camille/Danielle Jupiter from Seychelles. In the other semi-final, Nabaaha and Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq from Maldives won against the Mauritian side Lorna Bodha/Jemmimah Leung For Sang.

Mauritian pair Aatish Lubah/Julien Paul will face Arnaud Genin/ Didier Nourry of Reunion Island for the finals of the men double category. They defeated the pairs Loic Bertil/Xavier Chan Fung Ting (Reunion Island) and Kervin Ghislain/Jie Luo (Seychelles), who will face each other for the third place of the category.

In the women category, Allisen Camille of Seychelles and Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq of Maldives head to the finals of the competition after winning against Kobita Dookhee and Aurelie Allet from Mauritius, respectively. With regard to the men category, where three of our compatriots were involved, Mauritian Alexandre Bongout defeated his compatriot Melvin Appiah to reach the finals. In the other match, Arnaud Genin from Reunion Island won against the Mauritian Julien Paul to compete for the gold medal.

As for the mixed double category, in the first match, Mauritians Alexandre Bongout and Jemmimah Leung For Sang defeated duo Mohamed Ajfan Rasheed/Ismail Maisa from Maldives. And in the other semi-final, our compatriots Julien Paul and Aurelie Allet also secured their place for the finals against Arnaud Genin and Melodie Parrot from Reunion Island.

Finals will be played tomorrow as from 13 00hrs at the same venue.
