Mauritian boxers make their way to finals

GIS – 25 July, 2019: The last semi-finals of the boxing competition, in the context of the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2019, were held, yesterday evening, at the National Boxing Centre in Vacoas. On that occasion, John and Richardo Colin, together with other Mauritian boxers in action, secured a place in the finals of the competition in their respective categories.

 

In the Light category (60kg), John Colin won the match against Faniry Tsilavina of Madagascar to advance to the finals. His brother, Richardo Colin, continued on this same momentum and won by knock out, in the second round, against the representative of Comoros, Youssouf Assoumani, in the Light Welter category (64kg).

Later on, Merven Clair, Jean Christophe Otendy and Louis Cedric Olivier, in the Welter (69kg), Light Heavy (81kg) and Heavy (91kg) categories respectively, also secured a spot for the finals against Faly Malala Etienne Andrianarion of Madagascar, Georges Castel of Reunion Island and Francois Rabenandrasana of Madagascar.The finals are scheduled on Friday 26 July 2019 at the same venue.
