The 32-year-old, who was forced to stop playing during the first Test of England’s  Caribbean tour, underwent surgery in London on Saturday.

The procedure successfully removed the bone and scar tissue that was causing him an issue when he bowled. However, it is Wood’s post-operation clips that have caught everyone’s attention.

The bowler sustained an elbow injury and could only muster 17 overs in England’s first Test. Having undergone several more scans, Wood was sent for surgery.

As it result, it remains unlikely as to whether he will be fit for England’s Test series against New Zealand in June after going under the knife for a procedure on his right elbow.

Nevertheless, the surgery was deemed a success and Wood even took to Instagram to share some highlights of his post-operation chat with the England Physio.

The 32-year-old bowler captioned the hilarious Instagram post: ‘Who says hospital gowns aren’t cool eh!!??

‘No more boney fragments in my arm! Thanks to Professor Roger van Riet and Mr Ali Noorani for sorting me out and all the staff who made me feel totally at ease.

‘Langers, the England physio videoed me coming out of the anaesthetic – Bah, I talk some absolute rubbish!!!’.

During the clips he was heard asking if his arm was still attached as he could not feel it. He also told his nurse that ‘Northern boys love gravy and Bovril’ before demanding everyone to ‘shake their legs like Elvis Pressley’.

In the first video clip the England bowler is heard saying: ‘We’ve all got shaky legs. Shaky legs like Elvis Pressley’.

In the second he is offered a cup of tea from the nurse – to which he responds saying: ‘Do you know what northern boys love. Gravy and Bovril.’

He went on to speak about his surgery, saying: ‘Is my shoulder meant to be sore? That’s weird that. I’ve have had elbow surgery but my shoulders acing. Whatever. I’ll still bowl fast.

‘I am so chilled. Is my arm still attached? They’ve cut my arm off. Am I alright? I feel better. What happened? I feel alright.’

Before finishing by asking the nurse if he was causing any issues. He said: ‘I haven’t been anxious have I. Have I been ok? I am chilled. Ibiza chilled. I’ve never been to Ibiza.’

Wood was also due to play in the Indian Premier League for the Lucknow Super Giants on a deal worth £735,000 but can no longer participate in the competition.

When asked about whether he was excited make his return to the IPL, he said: ‘I am so sad. Not [playing] this time. I like Andy flower. He’s a nice guy. Bowen gone? Lollipop, lollipop.’

Wood’s omission from the team comes as a blow, but Saqib Mahmood stepped up to take his place.

Nevertheless, Wood will look to return to the team as soon as his rehabilitation period is over.
