Marco Silva urges Everton to use Cardiff trip as a catalyst for turning round their season

Everton manager Marco Silva has called on his players to use Tuesday’s trip to struggling Cardiff as a chance to ‘prove they want’ to turn round their woeful form.

The Toffees have lost five of the last six in all competitions, losing nine and winning just three of the last 14 Premier League matches since the start of December.

Cardiff are just one point above the bottom three and were hammered 5-1 by Watford on Saturday but Silva would not admit they had to return from south Wales with three points.

‘It is a really important game. We must show we can change the last results and it is a good opportunity for us,’ he said.

‘That does not mean it will be an easy match. If it’s a must-win or not let’s see during the match.

‘We have to prove that we want to achieve good results and turn results again back to us and to look for our players to play with a different confidence.’
