Marcus Rashford has arguably been dragon Manchester United into form with his incredible displays in front of goal – so it was apt an actor from Game of Thrones handed the player of the month award over.

John Bradley, who is a huge United supporter, went down to their Carrington training ground on Thursday to pass over the honour.

Bradley, famous for playing Samwell Tarly in the series, was bundled up for the chilly weather but did not have the furs more commonly worn by a member of the Night’s Watch.

The pair posed for a snap with the United player of the month trophy, which will go some way to proving that Rashford is closer to being a Maester on the pitch.

United’s official Instagram account captioned the image: ‘The Wall ➡️ Manchester.

‘Great to have John Bradley in to present Marcus Rashford with his Manchester United POTM award!’

With three goals in January, Rashford is one of the United players who have come out most unsullied by the Jose Mourinho era.

He has benefited from the support of interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in recent weeks.

‘If you look at the stats, I was told that he is younger than Ronaldo and Rooney to reach 150 appearances for Manchester United,’ Solskjaer said after his recent 150th appearance.

‘Not bad, is it? The 150th game is a feat in itself, being 21, but with the level of his performance, the maturity in his finishing and his work-rate, it’s a dream to have players like him in the team.

‘He can be absolutely top-class. He’s playing the best football of his career. He’s got a great future.’
