Manchester City may allow James McAtee out on loan with Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Villarreal all interested in the 19-year-old attacking midfielder

  • McAtee was handed his first-team debut by Pep Guardiola back in September
  • He subsequently made his Premier League debut in a win over Everton
  • England under-21 international is highly-regarded by coaches at the Etihad
  • City want him to acquire more game time with several clubs interested in him

Manchester City will consider allowing James McAtee out on loan if clubs can give assurances the 19-year-old will play regularly.

Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Villarreal are all showing strong interest in the attacking midfielder.

The teenager has been at City since 2013 and was handed his senior debut by Pep Guardiola last September in a 6-1 home win over Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Cup.

Two months later, McAtee was handed his Premier League debut as a substitute for Cole Palmer in a 3-0 home win over Everton.

McAtee also enjoyed his first experience of Champions League football in the second leg of City’s last-16 tie against Sporting Lisbon.

He has now made six appearances for the Premier League champions and McAtee’s loan would help him gain more valuable experience in senior football.

Having represented England at under-18 and under-20 level, Salford-born McAtee received his first call-up to the under-21 team in June this year.

Lee Carsley handed the midfielder his debut in the 5-0 victory away to Kosovo in qualification for next year’s European Under-21 Championship.

Brighton saw a bid to sign McAtee permanently rejected last summer and a number of Premier League sides were also interested in him before he signed a new City contract earlier this year.
