The match was halted for roughly ten minutes as the young City star was being treated by several medics who were pitch-side at the Etihad Stadium.

City players huddled around Garcia, who laid flat on the ground just outside the hosts penalty area.

Garcia was visibly conscious whilst being attended to by the doctors and medics – proving a sigh of relief for manager Pep Guardiola who watched on from the sidelines.

Afterwards  Guardiola said: ‘We are concerned about Eric of course.

;He is conscious, but I think he is going to be tested tonight because a kick in the head is always so dangerous.

‘The doctor told me he was conscious and then they asked me to be with you.

‘I’m pretty sure we’re going to do absolutely everything to be sure that everything is fine and well.’
