Leeds United have made an approach for Gent forward Jonathan David.
The Canada international is also wanted by Lille who have had a £23 million offer including various bonuses rejected.
Leeds initial proposal is understood to include more guaranteed payments.

Leeds United are interested in David but could face competition from French side Lille
Gent president Ivan de Witte wants around £27million for the 20-year old who has been watched by Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal this season and scored 23 goals.
Discussing Lille’s bid in Belgian paper De Zontag, De Witte confirmed: ‘The contacts stopped this week but other clubs are still interested with better proposals, including Leeds. But I once again explained to Jonathan we want him to play for us.’
