It comes after Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha was subjected to racist abuse on social media earlier this month.

Zaha, 27, posted screenshots on Twitter of messages sent to his Instagram account, one of which read: ‘You better not score tomorrow you black c***’.

Dortmund sealed the capture of the highly-rated Bellingham on Monday after seeing off competition from Manchester United for the 17-year-old.

He left the St Andrew’s pitch in tears after cramp forced him off with 15 minutes of the 3-1 defeat by Derby to go.

‘Whatever happens I am always a blue,’ he told the club’s TV channel after the game.

‘This is my club and I love this club to bits. I hope I showed that in the performances while I was here.

‘I hope I was fun to watch, I hope I was fun to interact with because I wanted to bridge the gap between the players and the fans. I’ll only look back on Birmingham City with love and fond memories.’
