Incredible moment a footy fan BREAKS INTO a commentary box and gives callers a foul-mouthed spray

An irate fan has crashed into a commentary box during a game of rugby league in the UK to demand a noisy air-conditioning unit be turned off in a foul-mouthed tantrum that ended up being part of the broadcast.

The incident occurred when the Bradford Bulls played Workington Town on the weekend in Britain’s second-tier rugby league competition, the Championship.

Mick ‘The Game Caller’ Gledhill was in his usual chair commentating the game when the unknown intruder burst through the door and his demands during live coverage of the match.  

‘Can you turn this off? This air-conditioning unit is making a f***ing racket,’ he demands.

An unknown person in the commentary box replies: ‘Can you get out of here, please?’

But the intruder was not going to be fobbed off that easily and continued to bellow about the air-conditioner as Gledhill tried to do his job.

‘There’s something kicking off here,’ Gledhill said.

‘I’m not sure what is going on, I do apologise for this interruption.

‘It’s live radio.’

In the background the unknown commentary box worker yells: ‘Stop poking your finger at me!’

‘No! You get it sorted,’ the intruder replies.

Things begin to get physical at this point and the intruder warns: ‘Don’t you touch me.’

‘I’m not going to touch you, I am going to get security to take you out,’ the worker says.

‘You touched me! You assaulted me!’ yells the intruder.

‘Oh, get out of here,’ replies the worker.’

Gledhill posted the exchange on Twitter, saying: ‘In my 13 seasons of covering live #RugbyLeague on the radio, I’ve never experienced a supporter breaking into the commentary box to ask for the air conditioning unit to be turned down. Apologies for any profanities you may have heard earlier today.’

The disgruntled fan probably had every right to be cranky, the Bradford Bulls have not done much this season to give their fans any joy.

The West Yorkshire club sits in ninth place on the Championship table and cannot qualify for the playoffs and a chance at promotion back to the English Super League.

It also means a reduction in funding that will make it harder to attract players and there is likely to be wholesale changes to the squad for the 2023 season.

It has not been a season to remember for fans of the Bradford Bulls in the Championship

‘There’s been mistakes in the recruitment,’ Gledhill said on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast.

‘Look at the body language of the players and who is talking to who on the field.

‘Barrow away, there were arguments over the field, fans don’t want to see that. That points to no harmony in the dressing room.

‘[Coach] Mark Dunning has got one hell of a task moving forward. I know quite a lot of the players are moving on next year so there will be wholesale change.

‘I think there will be a minimum of 16 players through the door and with 16 going out you need to bring 13, 14, 15 or 16 in.’
