In this week’s hot hotels round-up, we’ve got three historic hotels that have opened its doors after getting a royal transformation.
The Langley
Marriott International’s The Luxury Collection has announced the opening of The Langley, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Buckinghamshire.
Just outside of London in Buckinghamshire’s Langley Park, The Langley offers 41 bedrooms throughout two buildings — the former hunting lodge of the third Duke of Marlborough and the adjacent Grade II-listed 18th century Brew House.
Following an extensive six-year, multi-million-pound renovation, the property is now open as a hotel for the very first time.

InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu
The InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu is now open after an extensive four-year restoration of one of the city’s most iconic buildings, the former hospital (‘Hôtel Dieu’). The renovation of the Grand Hôtel-Dieu complex is the largest private transformation of a historic monument carried out in France to date.
InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu forms part of the Grand Hôtel Dieu and was reimagined by interior designer, Jean-Philippe Nuel. He focused on maintaining the original beauty and architecture of the building whilst offering a contemporary, understated luxury design which is rooted in the history of Lyon and the building itself.

Tom Rowntree, vice president, global luxury brands at IHG, commented on the opening: “InterContinental is known for transforming heritage buildings into stunning properties whilst maintaining their historic spirit, and InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu is a perfect example of that.

Hôtel Du Louvre
Hôtel du Louvre sits in the heart of the city’s Palais-Royal district, surrounded by the Musée du Louvre, the Comédie-Française, the Palais Garnier and Palais Royal.
The 164 rooms and suites have been fully redesigned in original Parisian style, with high ceilings, mouldings, marble floors reminiscent of the Opéra Garnier, and chic Parisian furniture. Colourful and evocative illustrations by Emmanuel Pierre lead guests from the rooms to the lobby and dining areas, which are reimagined by architect, George Wong.
