GIS – 14 August, 2019: One hundred and fifty-five pellets of heroin worth Rs 28 million were purged by two Mozambican sales girls. The purged drugs weighed 1,841.43g.  The two Mozambicans, aged 34 and 39, were intercepted on Tuesday 6 August 2019 at the SSR International Airport after disembarking from Air Mauritius Flight MK852.

The officers of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) profiled the passengers while they were leaving through the Green Channel.

The luggage of the Mozambicans was scanned and nothing incriminating was found. Following intensive questioning, they confessed having swallowed several pellets of illicit drug. A body search was carried out on both passengers but nothing impeaching was found. They were handed over to the ADSU for medical examination and further enquiry.
