Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick appears to be enjoying the speculation over Thiago Alcantara’s future as much as anyone.

The Champions League winning boss was in a playful mood as he spoke to reporters after leading his side to glory with a 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

Midfielder Alcantara was instrumental in what is widely expected to be his final appearance for the German club.

Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 29-year-old while Arsenal were also linked over the weekend. Bayern have openly said that Alcantara, who was one year remaining on his contract, is ready to move to a new league.

Flick was asked about an emotional conversation he was spotted having with the midfielder was the pair saying farewell.

‘No, he told me he is staying,’ Flick replied, and was met with a stunned silence by what appeared to be a dramatic twist in the transfer tale. But after a moment, Flick burst out laughing.

‘You pulled a brilliant face! No, I just thanked him for our time together, just like I did every other player.
