Tottenham have received a major boost to their Premier League and Champions League aspirations as star man Harry Kane returned to first-team training on Wednesday morning.

The 25-year-old England captain injured an ankle in the defeat by Manchester United on January 13 and was expected to be out until March.

The ligament damage to his ankle was expected to keep Kane out for at least two months, meaning he would miss 11 games or more.

However, after returning to training ahead of schedule, Kane is now in contention to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Kane was seen taking part in a number of running exercises with his team-mates at their Enfield training base before also getting in some work with the ball as he looks to shake off some rustiness.

Despite their star striker’s absence, Spurs have still been performing well in the Premier League. However they did suffer defeats in both the Carabao Cup semi-final to Chelsea and the FA Cup to Crystal Palace during January.

In the league though, Spurs have been on a roll with wins over Leicester, Newcastle, Watford, and Fulham.

They also had an impressive 3-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 match last week.

With games against Chelsea and Arsenal in the league, as well as the return leg against Dortmund coming up, Tottenham will be hoping they can get Kane back up to speed quickly.

The Spurs and England man has scored 14 goals and got four assists so far in 22 league matches this season. Plus, he scored four times in his six Champions League group games.
