Four gold medals for Mauritius on fourth day of competitions

GIS – 26 July, 2019: Mauritius won four gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals, yesterday at the Germain Commarmond Stadium in Bambous. The Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth presented medals to some athletes.

The remarkable performances of Mauritian athletes are as follows: 

·         Hammer Throw Women, Mauritius clinched victory with three medals; Juliane Clair won the gold medal, Astridge Samoisy awarded the silver medal and Olivia Maljean obtained the bronze medal.

·         10 000 M Walk Race Men, Jerome Caprice (Mauritius) bagged the gold medal, followed by Théophile Ramarosoa (Madagascar) with a silver medal and Nassuf Said (Comoros), the bronze medal.

·         Decathlon Category, Fabrice Rajah won with 6227 points.

·         Long Jump Women, Natasha Chetty (Seychelles) sealed the gold medal, Melissa Nigathe (Mauritius) received the silver medal, and Natacha Bibi (Seychelles), the bronze one.

·         Shot Put Category Men, Bernard Baptiste (Mauritius) bagged the gold medal, Sylvain Pierre Louis (Mauritius), the silver medal and the bronze medal went to Rony Bristol (Seychelles).

·         4 * 100 M Relay Women, Madagascar won the gold medal, Reunion Island seized the silver medal and Mauritius received the bronze one.

 

Currently, Mauritius is in the first position with a total of 180 medals comprising 72 gold medals while Madagascar ranks second counting a total of 108 with 43 gold medals, followed by Reunion Island with 147 medals including 41 gold medals.
