Footy mum Jackie De Koning stole the show at the AFL Players Association Awards on Wednesday night when she recalled a story about getting drunk in a Bali bar while watching her two sons square off in a Geelong versus Carlton tussle.

The mother of 10 was asked by Fox Footy’s Kath Loughnan what it was like watching her boys on opposing sides – and her response was iconic.

‘We were lucky, we were drunk in a bar in Bali so it was OK,’ Mrs De Koning said, leaving the audience in hysterics.

‘Every time Geelong got a goal, we went “Yay!” and every time Carlton got a goal we went “Yay!”. It was great.

‘There was a whole table of Geelong supporters at the end that shouted drinks for us and they won, so we were happy.’

Brothers  Sam (Geelong) and Tom (Carlton) put family bragging rights on the line in round 18 at the MCG on July 16, with the Cats 30-point winners.

Social media lit up following Mrs De Koning’s hilarious response, with one footy fan labelling her a ‘queen’, with another stating she was the ‘undoubted star of the evening’.

Tom De Koning, 23, made his AFL debut for the Blues in 2018, and has impressed as a ruckman.

Sam, 21, was blooded by the Cats last season in round five versus the Kangaroos.

The athletic defender has featured in the majority of Geelong’s fixtures this campaign – only missing two games – and finished runner-up in the Rising Star category behind Collingwood’s Nick Daicos.
