Following a group discussion on one of the expat groups about the use of Google maps to find one’s way in Mauritius I was quite confidant commenting on the fact that I use Google Maps quite successfully on a daily basis.
Just to be put firmly in my place today by the universe when dropping the Xman at a friend’s house in Calodyne today. 😁
The fun started when the friend’s dad sent us a ‘general’ location pin instead of a ‘current’ location pin. We ended up on some dodge dirt roads and having to do some serious bundubashing with our tiny little car trying to find the friend’s house. At this point I seriously missed my 4×4 I left behind in SA. 😋
It took a couple of frantic whatsapps, a phone call and a new current location pin 📍 re-sent to my phone and some backtracking on our route before we found the correct address.. 😂
Like the girl child dryly mentioned afterwards.. We used up more than one adventure on this mission today.👆🚙😂 @wwwdotgotodotmu Google maps works with the correct address but not just a general description.. 😂 I might try @waze next time.. 😁
