GIS – 20 September, 2019: The Responsible Officer for the World Clean Up Day in Mauritius, Mr Christ Appaddoo, paid a courtesy call, today, on the Prime Minister, Minister of Home Affairs, External Communications and National Development Unit and Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

In a statement following the meeting, Mr Appaddoo stated that discussions with Prime Minister Jugnauth focused on the World Clean Up Day which will take place in Mauritius tomorrow and simultaneously in some 159 countries across the globe.

Speaking on this initiative, he highlighted that 140 groups of individuals together with local authorities will be participating for this noble clean up task. As the registration is already closed through the platform Let’s Do It, he appealed to the population to join these groups so as to help in collecting garbage in localised sites.

In this way, he added, they will raise awareness on the importance of keeping the environment clean and contribute towards a healthier environment in line with the Moris Nou Zoli Pei campaign.
