The Football Association have offered Wembley as a testing site for the re-introduction of spectators amid hopes from the Government that fans may return by September.

And English football’s governing body have put up the national stadium as a venue to test run the return of spectators later this year.

The national stadium could help speed up the return of fans to Premier League grounds
‘When people looked at neutral venues there were a lot of things about Wembley that were attractive which could also make it attractive for a trial.
‘Of course, we’d love to help in any way we can and we’re desperate to get fans back and if that’s what the Government want to do then we’d be open to it.
‘We’d obviously love to get full stadiums as soon as we can. But we’ll work with whatever the Government can come up with. What I’d say is that we’re starting to have the conversations which in itself is positive.’
Football is taking place behind closed doors but a return is hoped for before 2020-21 season
The news comes after Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden revealed his hope for the return of spectators by the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
‘I would really hope that by the return of the new season we might be in a position whereby some fans could start to return to stadiums,’ he said.
‘And I know that would be another important part of restoring the financial position of clubs.’
