L’ex-ministre indienne des Affaires étrangères, Sushma Swaraj, est décédée d’un arrêt cardiaque ce mardi soir à l’All India Institute of Medical Sciences où elle avait été admise un peu plus tôt.
Agée de 67 ans, elle a été première femme en Inde à occuper le poste de ministre des Affaires étrangères.
Membre du Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), parti qui est au pouvoir dans la Grande péninsule, Sushma Swaraj a connu une longue carrière dans la politique.
Elle a été ministre des Affaires étrangères du 26 mai 2014 au 30 mai 2019 sous le gouvernement de Narendra Modi. Sushma Swaraj a été élue sept fois comme membre du Parlement indien.
«Earlier in the day, Sushma Swaraj greeted Rajya Sabha members who voted in favour of the government’s resolution to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution», rapporte The Economic Times.
Sushma Swaraj avait félicité en fin d’après-midi ce mardi le Premier ministre indien, Narendra Modi, sur Tweeter. C’était au sujet du vote d’un projet de loi pour «réorganiser» Jammu-et-Cachemire. Voici son dernier tweet :
