Conor Benn destroyed Samuel Vargas inside the opening two minutes of their Welterweight bout at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday night, and then preceded to call out Amir Khan.  

The unbeaten 24-year-old unleashed an array of powerful shots that left Vargas reeling, prompting the referee to bring about an early end to the contest.

In his post fight interview Benn made it clear he wanted to have a domestic showdown with Khan.

‘Give me Amir Khan,’ Benn told Sky Sports. ‘I know he’s too busy on reality TV. If he wants it, he can have it.  

‘I can deal with pressure. I can cope with it. I can live with it, no problem.

‘I’m ready for the top dogs – Shawn Porter, Adrien Broner?

‘I’m one of the most rapidly improved fighters globally.’

Vargas lost to Khan on points in 2018, however the Colombian did knock him to canvass at the end of the second round.  

Benn ruthlessly dispatched the 31-year-old who has proven his durability and toughness against a host of opponents in the division. 

He marched to the centre of the ring and showcased his blistering speed and ferocious combinations, which forced Vargas to dip at the knees. 

Smelling blood, Benn continued with a merciless flurry of hooks from either hand which forced the referee to end the bout after just one minute and 22 seconds of the first round.

After the impressive win, promoter Eddie Hearn vowed that Benn’s rise up the rankings would continue and admitted he would be interested in a fight with Khan. 

‘The next fight has to be a top 15 in the world,’ Hearn told Sky Sports.

‘Benn vs Khan – a young guy against a guy with a fantastic legacy.

‘I want Benn back out as soon as possible. I’d like to see him win the European title.

‘How can you not get excited?’
