Chelsea fans are calling for Maurizio Sarri to be sacked following the FA Cup defeat by Manchester United.

During Monday night’s 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, supporters turned on the Italian with chants of ‘f*** Sarri-ball’ and ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’.

Throughout the game, Chelsea fans took to social media to air their grievances too.

One savaged the 60-year-old by writing: ‘Hiring Sarri was a gamble which has turned into a disaster.’

Another simply put: ‘Sarri your time is up,’ after United sent the Blues crashing out in the fifth round.

The prevailing view seemed to be that Sarri is too stubborn to adapt his methods and it was widely noted that his use of N’Golo Kante is baffling.

Inside Stamford Bridge, home fans began to jeer when Sarri replaced Mateo Kovacic with Ross Barkley – the 20th time this season he has switched the two midfielders during a game.

There were also loud calls for the return of Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, while Manchester United fans jokingly chanted for Jose Mourinho, who has been sacked by both sides.

First-half goals from Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba gave the visitors a solid lead as Chelsea once again struggled under Italian Sarri.

The former Napoli boss has come under increasing scrutiny for his apparent tactical inflexibility, having seen his side slip to fifth in the Premier League after a promising start.

The west London club have suffered three defeats from their last five league games and face an exit from the FA Cup.
