Carlo Ancelotti ‘makes cut-price Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly his number one target’ after Yerry Mina tells Everton he wants to move to Serie A… with the Toffees ‘looking to fetch £22million for the Colombian’ having bought him for £27m in 2018

  • Kalidou Koulibaly could leave Napoli for as little as £35m as Covid-19 bites
  • The Senegal star has developed into one of the world’s best centre backs
  • Carlo Ancelotti worked with Kalidou for 18 months before he was dismissed
  • Yerry Mina has faced competition for his place in the side from Mason Holgate
  • Mina joined Everton from Barcelona for £27m but could leave for around £22m
  • Fiorentina and Serie A leaders Inter Milan are interested in Mina’s signature

Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly made Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly his number one target after Yerry Mina’s bombshell admission earlier this week that he wanted to leave Everton for Serie A.

Mina, who is interesting both Inter Milan and Fiorentina, has started 20 of the Toffees’ 25 Premier League games for which he’s been fit, but the Colombian has faced competition for his place in the side by Mason Holgate, while fellow centre back Ben Godfrey has also impressed.

The 26-year-old has decided that his future lies elsewhere and Ancelotti is keen to bring in Koulibaly, according to TUTTOmercatoWEB.

Koulibaly played under the Italian for 18 months before Ancelotti was dismissed and has developed into one of the world’s most sought-after centre backs.

Ancelotti was quick to do business with his former employer as he brought Allan to Merseyside and he could well be in the running to purchase Koulibaly as well, with the Senegal star’s transfer valuation now as low as £35million, compared to the peak of £87m a couple of years ago.

As clubs across Europe see their budgets squeezed due to Covid-19 and there is a pressing need to bring money in, Napoli’s hand may be forced despite Koulibaly having two years left on his contract, a scenario that would be made more likely if Napoli remain fifth in Serie A and fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

With the likes of Liverpool and Bayern Munich having previously expressed an interest, Ancelotti could find himself facing stiff competition for Koulibaly’s signature.

Everton hope to bring in around £22m from the sale of Mina, which would still represent a £5m loss on the 26-year-old, who arrived at the club from Barcelona for £27m having just scored against England at the 2018 World Cup.
