An international network of 12 leading convention destinations around the globe, BestCities Global Alliance has released a Request for Proposal (RFP) to determine measurement indicators that will help evaluate the socio-economic legacy impacts of business events. The alliance is requesting proposals from qualified consultants in an effort to encourage legacy measurement collaboration in the global business events industry.

The RFP will build on existing commitments to the impact of business events, linking with various initiatives BestCities already have in practise such as Incredible Impacts, Inspiring Young Leaders and key outcomes from the annual Global Forum.

Paul Vallee, managing director of BestCities Global Alliance said: “Legacy impact is gaining greater attention amongst destination and business event bodies and stronger relevance in society in general. Although legacy impact has a broad reaching narrative on the true value of business events, few established indicators and measurement tools are in place. That is why we are committed to advancing this cause and helping to establish measurements that will build knowledge and streamline efforts into creating events that have lasting impact.”

A how-to toolkit will be created that will enable stakeholders to build knowledge and capacity and learnings of the project will be shared with the BestCities networks, both within and outside the industry.
