A Seven Nation Army couldn’t hold him back! Baseball fanatic Jack White watches Baltimore Orioles play the White Sox hours before his gig in the city – and sells ‘where’s the ball’ posters at the show he joked he could MISS if the game ran late!

  • Jack White has never made any secret of his long-time love of baseball
  • The White Stripes rocker has often been seen watching matches while on tour
  • He part-owns a baseball company and is a massive Detroit Tigers supporter

Jack White absolutely loves baseball. No doubt about it.

Earlier this year, he played the national anthem at the Detroit Tigers – his boyhood team – at their first game this season and once, he infamously left a Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers game in DC to play a show with his band The Raconteurs… and then came back to watch the end!

He also part-owns a company that sells baseball gear and apparel and has played for their team, the Warstic Woodmen.

And on Wednesday, the rocker was touring in Baltimore when he made a stop at the Orioles game, where they were playing the Chicago White Sox, before his show at the Pier Six Pavilion in the city that night.

Posing for a picture at Oriole Park, the snap was captioned on his Instagram: ‘Jack’s really hoping this game ends before 9:15 EDT. Pre-Show. Baltimore’ – referencing the time White’s gig begins.

While the game ran on, White was at Pier Six on time for a blockbuster show where fans who stopped by the merch stand would have found another neat baseball link.

White’s poster for the Baltimore concert had a ‘spot the ball’ competition with a picture from an old baseball game photoshopped, removing the ball and leaving fans to guess where it is meant to be.

The winner gets a signed Warstic baseball bat while there are also signed copies of White’s new album, Entering Heaven Alive, up for grabs.

White is best known for his music but has never hidden how deep his love for baseball runs

White, 47, has previously spoken of how, as a child, he would go and watch Detroit Tigers play with his mother and his baseball fascination has never left him. In 2014, he got to throw the customary first pitch in Detroit.

‘I just grew up playing in Detroit, Clark Park, at six years old,’ he said of his fandom before throwing the pitch. ‘I think that’s where it started. This tour has basically been booked around baseball – we’ve hit every stadium we could.’

Meanwhile at Oriole Park, Baltimore lost 5-3 against the White Sox.
