Miller was initially only fourth on Joshua’s list of preferred targets for his 23rd fight, behind Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte. Wilder and Fury were always long-shot options after their December draw and forthcoming rematch, while talks broke down over a second fight against Whyte, who has hit out over the package he was offered.

That has allowed Miller to pick up a similar payday, which is in the region of £5m, while Joshua is in line to make approximately £20m for the fight.

Miller ranks No 3 with the WBO and No 2 with the WBA after going unbeaten through 24 fights (23 wins, one draw). However he has never faced anyone close to the level of Joshua, the IBF, WBA and WBO champion.
